Lessons From a Literary Agent - Part Two

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

Hello again friends, and thank you so much for taking time from your busy lives to read my blog.

In Lessons From a Literary Agent - Part One, I told you about my journey in finding a conscientious, attentive and loving literary agent who takes great care in getting my story out there. It's been a difficult journey as we began working together right before Covid culture began, and the subsequent skeleton crews that became most publishing houses. She has made several submissions, two of which have my book

Grateful: Faith, Healing and the Gift of Music under consideration. I am thrilled, in that pragmatic, realist kind of way...Lol. I think the only thing tougher than getting my music out in front of as many people in possible, by releasing eight self-produced albums and six singles as a leader, is getting a Christian memoir published. My literary agent, however, has been supportive of the steps I'm taking to bring my story to as many people as possible while that perfect publisher waits in the wings.

Since I wrote to you last, I have become a mentor for young people in the Young Catholic Professionals organization and begun the process of becoming an active advocate and speaker for NAMI Ohio, (National Alliance on Mental Illness,) and for NAAF, (National Alopecia Areata Foundation, as I've also lived with that since childhood, (but those details are for another blog.) I've also shared my story and my book as a guest speaker for the Women In Theater conference at Kent State University, where I spoke not only about my book, but also did a second session on songwriting.

So, I'm saving my favorite and best news for last. I submitted my Christian testimony to a brilliant Christian platform called ThenGodMoved.com. Led by Adira Polite, Then God Moved publishes beautiful stories of how Jesus does transforming works in the lives of so many people on their Christian walk, some finding Him for the first time, others reinforcing their relationships with Him through very dark times, as in my case.

This testimony that I submitted is essentially a truncated version of Chapter five of my book entitled, The Crooked Lines That Led Me Back to Faith. In it I tell of a very personal encounter with my Savior while at my lowest point in my life and struggle with Bipolar Disorder. It was published on all of their social media platforms and the podcast is forthcoming. I am thrilled to share my testimony with all of you here. You can find the Instagram post below.

I hope you will sign up for my blog community so that I can interact with you as you post comments. I am available for speaking and musical engagements, although I just love to blend the two!

Please stay in close touch with me, and I promise to do the same. Visit the rest of this site for book excerpts, press and of course, music and if you would, also fill out the contact information form.

I look forward to seeing you all in person one day soon. God bless!
